Insulated Bags: A Branded Carrier for Cold Products

An insulated bag is made by placing a heat-insulated lining inside the outer fabric. This layer separates the contents from the outside; frozen products, drinks or a lunch are carried in an insulated compartment, unlike in an ordinary shopping bag. Also searched for as a cooler bag or thermal bag, this product answers a real need, so it stays in the recipient's hands for a long time.

Lining Types

Three kinds of inner surface stand out in the models in this category. Aluminum foil lining is used especially in grocery-type bags with a non-woven body and creates a shiny inner surface. PEVA lining is found in polyester models, with heat-welded seams. Foam-padded lining gives a fuller inner layer in compact lunch bags. Grocery-type insulated bags

Non-woven models of around 33x38 cm are designed for frozen and cold products from grocery shopping. A zippered top flap and a front pocket for a receipt or card are details often seen in these models. Supermarkets and food brands give these bags as gifts in loyalty campaigns.

Lunch and compact models

Small-bodied polyester bags take a food container and a bottle side by side; they are a practical choice for gifts to office staff. The narrow RPET model with a bottle opener is shaped for carrying drinks.

Picnic bags and large-volume models

Wide polyester and poly canvas bodies give enough room for a busy picnic, a camping trip or a field day. Models with a bottle slot, an expanding front pocket and ones that fold flat when not in use are also in this group. In one poly canvas model the insulated compartment is at the base of the bag; in a cotton model there is a separate zippered insulated compartment next to the regular one, so the towel and the food do not mix.

Printing on Logo Cooler Bags

• Screen printing: The most common method on non-woven and polyester bodies for bold, few-color logos.
• Digital heat transfer: Suited to multicolor product images and campaign designs.
• Sublimation printing: Allows full-color printing on some models with a light-colored polyester body.

Color and Design

Cooler bags are offered in tones such as black, royal blue, navy, red and orange; some models come in five color options. In food campaigns, a body that carries the same color as your product packaging makes the bag match your brand on the shelf and at home. A light-toned screen print on a dark body, and a vivid digital transfer logo on a white body, read clearly.

Logo Position and Campaign Message

On a cooler bag the widest flat area is usually the front; on pocketed models the logo goes on the pocket or on the part of the body above the pocket. The zippered top flap and side gussets are not suited to printing, so simplifying the design to the size of the front panel gives good results. In grocery campaigns, printing the logo on one side and the campaign slogan or web address on the other turns the bag into a small billboard.
